Vactrim Light
High-efficacy, low-glare recessed downlights matching local building insulation and architectural performance regulations.
New Zealand's commercial and residential architectural sectors demand lighting solutions that merge outstanding visual performance with strict regulatory compliance. Under the updated building code standards (specifically Clause H1 - Energy Efficiency), thermal efficiency and building envelope integrity are paramount. Standard recessed lighting products often introduce thermal bridging or fail to support continuous ceiling insulation, compromising energy conservation goals in regions from sub-tropical Auckland to alpine Queenstown.
To address this, the market has pivoted toward IC-4 (Insulation Cover) rated downlights. An IC-4 rating ensures that the luminaire can be safely covered by building insulation material without posing a fire hazard or causing premature driver failure. Furthermore, the high UV environment, combined with coastal air conditions across the country's main cities, demands superior material construction—particularly high-grade die-cast aluminum with anti-corrosive finishes.
At the same time, lighting designers are focusing heavily on human-centric lighting designs where the Unified Glare Rating (UGR) is kept below 19, and in many premium office or hospitality environments, below 16. Lowering glare reduces visual fatigue, enhances productivity, and provides an elegant, discreet lighting finish that highlights architectural features rather than the light sources themselves.
Our anti-glare downlights are built to support continuous ceiling insulation, complying with AS/NZS standards and preventing thermal leakage in modern structures.
Utilizing deep-cut reflectors and precise beam angles, we maintain visual comfort, target low-glare office standards, and fulfill international architectural specifications.
Engineered values that guarantee long-term efficiency and reliability for commercial procurement networks.
Glare is not just a visual inconvenience; it directly impacts physiological comfort and productivity. Here is how our engineering team eliminates glare.
By positioning the COB (Chip-on-Board) light source deep inside the optical engine housing (over 35mm to 50mm recess), we establish a high physical shielding angle. The light source remains hidden from the normal line of sight, preventing direct glare.
Our luminaires utilize primary and secondary reflectors. The secondary reflector is available in multiple finishes—matte black, specularity chrome, sandblasted silver, or champagne gold. This controls stray light beam paths, keeping UGR values extremely low.
Optical-grade PMMA lenses distribute luminous flux precisely. By offering beam angles of 15°, 24°, 36°, and 60°, we allow lighting designers to target light exactly where it is needed without illuminating unnecessary vertical surfaces.

Each luminaire undergoes a controlled, recorded manufacturing procedure in our ISO 9001 facility to maintain consistent performance and longevity.

Meeting the demands of modern architectural design through custom configurations and advanced protocols.
We supply high-efficiency, ripple-free constant current LED drivers. Eliminating visual and invisible strobe flicker protects occupant health, reduces eye strain, and provides clear video capture for broadcast settings. Our drivers support dimming standards used throughout New Zealand, including Phase-cut (Triac), 0-10V, DALI-2, and Casambi Bluetooth.
High-grade aluminum heat sinks are optimized through finite element analysis (FEA). This structure ensures junction temperatures (Tj) remain low under typical ceiling operating conditions, preserving color consistency (SDCM < 3) and maintaining lumen output over a 50,000-hour operational lifespan.
For large project developments, procurement efficiency is critical. We coordinate direct factory shipments, custom paint colors (RAL match), customized cut-out adaptors, and pre-wired flex and plugs suitable for New Zealand wiring grids. Our commercial lighting engineering team produces comprehensive support documentation, including Dialux simulations, product spec sheets, and IES files.
